The aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and Singapore are planning to negotiate the opening of air services between the two countries in July this year, QazMonitor reports citing the civil aviation committee.

Talgat Lastayev, the chair of the civil aviation committee of Kazakhstan, held talks with Han Kok Juan, the director-general of the civil aviation authority of Singapore, regarding bilateral air traffic.

During the talks, the Kazakh side invited Singaporean airlines to take advantage of the open skies regime in Kazakhstan, which includes the use of the Freedoms of the Air implemented in the country.

Currently, our country implements the Fifth Freedom of the Air, which permits flights from other states to land and take off from the territory of Kazakhstan, including traffic from or destined to a third state. In this regard, the Singaporean side agreed to further discuss the matter of opening direct flights with Kazakhstan with Singapore Airlines and Singapore Changi Airport.

Additionally, the parties discussed the possibility of training Kazakh air personnel at the Singapore Aviation Academy and Air Astana's plans to launch flights between the two countries.
