Which Countries Send the Most Tourists to Kazakhstan?

Tourism committee shared the top-10 list for January

In January, Russia, Uzbekistan, and the Kyrgyz Republic were among the top-10 tourist-generating countries for Kazakhstan, QazMontor reports.

The neighboring countries were the main source of tourist inflow to Kazakhstan. Tourists from Russia are in first place with about 58,200 visitors. Uzbekistan follows in second with 11,200 tourists and the Kyrgyz Republic rounds out the top three with about 3,000 visitors.

Recently, Kazakhstan has become somewhat of a magnet for Indian tourists with almost 3,000 visits recorded. China and Tajikistan share the same spot with 2,300 tourists.

In addition, the tourism committee reports that since the beginning of the year, our country has been visited by 2,500 Turkish citizens, as well as 1,400 tourists from Germany and the United States, and 1,200 from Great Britain.

More than 40,000 tourists chose Almaty as their choice of destination. Astana is the second most popular destination (22,000 tourists) followed by the Aktobe region (4,733), Atyrau region (4,212), Mangystau region (3,023), West Kazakhstan region (2,778), Pavlodar region (2,719), North Kazakhstan region (2,651), the city of Shymkent (2,586), and Karagandy region (2,573).

According to the representative of the tourism committee, the hotels in Almaty and Astana are among the most popular places for accommodation.

“Since the beginning of the year, 16,654 individual retailers and 6,746 businesses across Kazakhstan have received tourists from abroad,” the representative said.
