Minister of Culture and Sport Askhat Oralov proposed to introduce a tourist cashback scheme for citizens of Kazakhstan, QazMonitor reports.

He spoke about the initiative at the third collegium Correspondent of the center of business information.

The Minister plans to introduce a program that will allow citizens to get a refund up to 20% of the cost of the tour during the off-peak season if the tickets were purchased from official travel agencies.

The 20% refund policy will apply to new destinations – Abay, Ulytau regions. The reimbursement for popular places such as Almaty and Burabay will be 10%.

"We will start the process in order to fully work out all the mechanisms of such a program. Cashback will be a new tool to make domestic tourism more attractive. By increasing demand, we will support the domestic tour operators. I think that our ministry should speed up the consideration of tourist cashback introduction," said Askhat Oralov.
