In the spring of next year, travelers from Kazakhstan will be able to fly directly to two cities in Pakistan, QazMonitor reports.
Kazakh low-cost airline SCAT plans to launch direct flights from Almaty to Karachi and Lahore in March 2023. Both routes will operate flights twice a week.
Last month, Kazakhstan and Pakistan expressed interest in jointly developing air, land, and sea routes as part of mutual cooperation in transport and communication.
The minister of industry and infrastructural development Kairbek Uskenbayev then announced that SCAT Airlines plans to launch direct flights and had submitted an application to the Pakistani authorities.
"The opening of air links between Kazakhstan and Pakistan will accelerate the development of trade and economic, investment, tourism, and cultural cooperation between the countries," wrote the ministry of industry's press service.
