On June 6, Kazakhstan's football team defeated Slovakia 1:0 in a sensational Nations League match, Sputnik reports. The outcome of the game in Trnava was decided by the only goal by Aslan Darabayev in the 26th minute.
Kazakhstan has become the leader of Group 3 of Division C in the new season of the UEFA Nations League with six points scored over two consecutive winning matches.
Aslan Darabayev commented the victory: "When you play against a strong team, you understand that you're not a favorite, and the defense game gives you only a couple of chances and you have to make the most out of it. Maybe, to some extent, we were lucky. Fortunately, we managed to score and win."
In June, Kazakhstan's team will play two more matches in the Nations League: against Belarus on June 10 and Slovakia at a home match on June 13.
Kazakhstan had a strong start to the tournament with a victory over Azerbaijan - 2:0 thanks to Abat Aimbetov who authored both goals.
