Kazakhstan Wins Silver at Speed Skating World Cup

This marks the first medal won by the Kazakh relay team in 5 years

Kazakhstan's men's short track speed skating team finished second in the 5,000-meter relay final at the World Cup in Montreal, Canada, QazMonitor reports citing Vesti.kz.

Abzal Azhgaliyev, Adil Galiakhmetov, Nurtilek Kazhgali, and Denis Nikisha lost only to South Korea. Canada took bronze.

The second place was awarded to the Kazakh team after the Italy was disqualified. Although an Italian team member finished second, he committed a violation that caused Denis Nikisha to fall on the last curve.
