World champion Gennady Golovkin will have his next fight in Kazakhstan, QazMonitor reports citing Tengri Sport.

Brazilian sports journalist Wilson Baldini Jr. confirmed on Twitter that Golovkin has agreed to fight against IBF number-one contender Esquiva Falcao of Brazil. The fight will take place in March of next year.

The news comes after the WBA and IBF’s joint resolution for Golovkin to defend his middleweight title against Falcao. The Kazakh boxer is also negotiating terms with secondary WBA middleweight title holder Erislandy Lara for their ordered title consolidation clash.

Brazilian media is speculating that this will be the last fight in the career of the 40-year-old Golovkin.

A month before his match with Canelo, the athlete revealed in an interview that he wanted to have one last fight in his home country before even considering leaving the ring for good.

In the entirety of his career, Golovkin had only one home match in Kazakhstan – in 2010 in Nur-Sultan against Columbia’s Nilson Tapia.
