A commemorative stamp featuring the Kazakh dombyra is being issued in honor of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's membership in the United Nations (UN), QazMonitor reports citing KazPost.

The stamp will be released today by Kazpost jointly with the UN office in Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The artist is Elnara Bainazarova.

"It is no coincidence that the dombyra was chosen for the stamp design since the Kazakh traditional art of dombyra kui is included in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO,” said Michaela Friberg-Storey, Head of the United Nations in Kazakhstan.

The UN head added that the issuance of the postage stamp is a symbol of raising public awareness about a significant milestone in the history of Kazakhstan's foreign policy and commitment to sustainable development.

A sheet of eight stamps valued at ₸700 a piece will be released into circulation.

There will be 10 thousand pieces available in total.
