First Deputy PM Roman Sklyar announced during a press briefing that a new facility for assembly, integration, and testing of spacecrafts is scheduled for industrial commissioning in 2023, QazMonitor reports citing Kazinform.

The project “Creation of the Assembly and Testing Complex of the Engineering and Design Office of Space Technology” (AITC SC) is the only facility in Central Asia that upon completion will produce a wide range of satellites used in telecommunications, scientific experiments, Earth-monitoring, and more. The weight of the assembled unit can range from 100 kg to 6 tons.

This project is a joint operation by the NC Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary JSC and the French company Airbus Defence and Space. According to Sklyar, all construction and installation work at the site is completed and will be launched at full capacity after a complete cycle of tests.

The French company also contributed €29.8 million to the installation of a Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR) polygon which will be used for testing microwave frequencies.
