Board Chairman of KazMunayGas Magzum Mirzagaliyev and President of PetroChina Huang Yongzhang held a video conference on October 10 to discuss increasing the supply of Kazakh oil to China, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of KazMunayGas.

The sides considered options to increase the capacity of oil transportation infrastructure from Atyrau to China. Other prospects for bilateral cooperation and joint projects in the field of exploration were also discussed during the meeting.

The heads also looked into the possibility of expanding the refining capacity of the Shymkent refinery. The pre-feasibility study of the project is planned to be completed in December of this year. Implementation of the project is particularly important due to the growing domestic demand for oil products in Kazakhstan.
