Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry (MIID) and Abu Dhabi Port Group discussed a construction of a new container hub in Aktau by 2025, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the ministry.
In order to increase the attractiveness of the project for foreign investors, implementation is assumed in the format of a joint venture and on the basis of the Free Economic Zone "Seaport Aktau". The cost of the project is 13.7 billion tenge, and the implementation period - 2025. The project will increase the volume of container shipments from 40,000 to 215,000 TEU per year," said Uskenbayev.
At the meeting with the Group CEO Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, the minister also noted that it is planned to build a multifunctional marine terminal "Sarja" in the port of Kuryk by 2025. The project involves the construction of grain and universal terminals, liquid cargo, and general cargo terminals, as well as a transport and logistics center. Project implementation will increase the throughput capacity of Kazakhstan ports by another 9.4 million tons.
"The projects are planned to be implemented at the expense of private investment. In case of interest, we are ready to consider your project proposals," the minister said.
