Kazakhstan and Turkiye to Cooperate on New Manufacturing

The head of the Atyrau region expressed interest in supporting the production of 2 essential petrochemicals

Trade and economic relations will be established between the Atyrau Region and Mersin Province of Turkiye. The heads of the regions met in Kazakhstan on October 6 to discuss bilateral projects, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of Atyrau region.

During the meeting, the akim of Atyrau region Serik Shapkenov said that he supports all proposals and projects of importance for the Atyrau region.

 “We can start strengthening ties in the sphere of agriculture, tourism and culture. Our region has a high economic potential in the petrochemical sector. In this regard, we are ready to cooperate with Turkish businessmen in the production of polyethylene and propylene," Shapkenov emphasized at the meeting with the delegation headed by the mayor of Mezitly, Mersin Province Neset Tarhan.

The side also discussed trade and economic cooperation and tourism between the two countries, transport, logistics, as well as urban development.

In January-August 2022, the foreign trade turnover between the Atyrau region and the Republic of Turkey amounted to $1.3 billion. Export from Kazakhstan - $1.3 billion, import - $15 million.
