The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Greece for the first seven months of the year amounted to over $1 billion, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the briefing for journalists, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aibek Smadiyarov noted an important milestone in the diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Greece - the 30th anniversary of its establishment on October 6.

"Both countries have a trusting and mutually beneficial cooperation based on the principles of equality and respect. Astana and Athens hold similar positions on most key issues of world politics and actively support each other within various international organizations," said Smadiyarov.

According to him, the two attach special importance to the development of relations in the economic sphere. The Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Technological Cooperation and the Kazakh-Greek Business Council work on joint implementation of all the available opportunities in this field.

Smadiyarov further emphasized: "In recent years, the volume of trade turnover between the countries has been growing rapidly. In the first seven months of this year, it amounted to over $1 billion which indicates a 40% growth compared to last year's figure."
