A documentary film under the working title “Sny reki” (Dreams of the River) was selected to participate in the international female filmmaker's program CIRCLE Woman Doc Accelerator, QazMonitor reports citing brod.kz.

The accelerator is an exclusive training program that aims to help female documentary filmmakers seeking support to develop their films and professional skills. Each year, up to twelve filmmakers are selected to participate in the program that will select two recipients for the scholarship.

Kristina Mikhailova's film centers on the fate of the river Aksay that flows through the Almaty region. The 70-kilometer-long river flows down from the Tian-Shan mountain and has its own charm that is explored through the eyes of the local people.

The film’s producer Dana Sabitova said that the CIRCLE Woman accelerator is a three-stage-program where participants will be able to improve upon their work in Serbia, Croatia, and Italy with guidance from internationally recognized experts, such as Brigid O’Shea, Diana El Jeiroudi, Paula Vaccaro, and Phil Jandaly.

“At the moment, we’re seeking foreign partners that may be able to join in the creation of the film. It’s very valuable to us to present the project from Kazakhstan on the international market”, said Sabitova.
