Kazakh residents stuck at the Kazakhstan-Russia border due to the influx of Russian migrants will be able to cross the border control through a special humanitarian corridor, QazMonitor reports citing the Central Communications Service.

According to the Acting Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin, the Government reached an agreement with its Russian counterpart regarding the creation of special corridors for Kazakh residents. Humanitarian corridors will be organized at the border crossings from September 29-30.

The agreement also handled the issue of food transportation across the border.

“We seem to have reached an agreement. Vehicles transporting food are stuck at the border. Today, arrangements have been made for the border control [of both countries] to negotiate. First of all, we will try to provide passageways for our citizens and for the vehicles transporting food”, said the minister.

Kazakhstan saw a large influx of Russian residents due to the announcement of ‘partial’ mobilization in Russia. From September 21 until now, over 100 thousand Russians arrived in Kazakhstan by border crossing, trains, or plane.

As reported by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Marat Kozhayev, 64 thousand of the total number of arrivals have already left the country.
