On September 22, Kazakhstan's national football team beat the team of Belarus scoring 2-1 in the fifth round of the group stage of the UEFA Nations League, QazMonitor reports.
Today's win in Astana allowed Kazakhstan to secure the first place in the Group with 13 points and qualify for the League B.
Belarus was active in the attack from the start, while Kazakhstan gradually levelled the game and had a chance to open the scoring, but Aslan Darabaev hit the goalie at point blank range. Then, the hosts opened the score, as Ramzan Orazov found the running in penalty area for Mikhail Gabyshev, who outplayed Yegor Hatkevich - 1:0. The team of Belarus managed to equalize in the second half with Pavel Savitskiy making it 1:1. In the second half of the match, Malyy and Gabyshev had excellent chances to score, and Igor Shatskyy showed his level. The coaches made substitutions and the Kazakhstani team stepped up, with Baktiyor Zainutdinov scoring the winning goal. The 2:1 was Kazakhstan's first-ever win against Belarus.
