Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov held a meeting with the board of Italian oil and gas company Eni, QazMonitor reports citing the prime minister's press service.
Addressing Eni Chief Operating Officer Guido Brusco and Director of Exploration and Production Luca Vignati, Smailov said the Kazakh government highly appreciates the company's contribution to developing the country's oil and gas industry.
He added that the Government supports the consortium's plans to build a gas processing plant at Kashagan field with a capacity of 1 billion cubic meters together with national company QazaqGaz JSC.
In turn, Guido Brusco reaffirmed the company's long-term plans to work in Kazakhstan: “We will take prompt and necessary decisions on the existing projects and look for opportunities to implement new ones, including in renewable energy.”
