Entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan and the Xinjiang have signed trade agreements worth $475 million during the 7th China-Eurasia EXPO in Urumqi, China, QazMonitor reports citing Jibek Joly.

The forum titled “Extensive Consultation, Joint Contribution and Shared Benefits: Cooperation for Future” is taking place from September 19 to September 23.

Kazakh enterprises were represented by the light and food-processing industries which brought over 140 products, including vegetable oil, honey, confectionery, pasta, flour, and juices.

The contracts signed at the fair include agreements on Kazakhstan’s export of fruit and vegetables and production of autoclaved concrete blocks as well as plans for a smart greenhouse project.

Director of Xinjiang Organic Food Import Export Kanat Bektembayev said that the Kazakh pavilion reached agreements with six large Chinese companies with plans to start work on the projects in October.

“Many visitors of EXPO became interested in the Kazakh pavilion and expressed their desire to purchase products made in Kazakhstan. We hope that this exhibition will allow for a new level of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and China,” said a spokesperson for China-Eurasia Expo Secretariat Zhang Shujun.
