Kazakhstan’s national team won 14 medals at World Para Dance Sport Cup on September 10-12 in Košice, Slovakia, QazMonitor reports citing the Paralympic Committee.

Over a hundred para athletes from 15 countries took part in the contest, competing in the categories of freestyle, classical, and Latin American dance styles, divided into single performances, duos, and combinations.

Overall, Kazakhstan’s team earned two gold, seven silver, and five bronze medals at the world championship.

President of the Federation of Modern and Sports Dance Aliya Tusupbekova noted that the art of wheelchair dance is becoming increasingly popular, allowing a wider audience to see and appreciate the hard work of the participants.

She continued by saying that a wheelchair should not be considered to be the main feature of the dance, but rather as a symbol of an athlete’s competitive spirit.
