Dimash Kudaibergen received a commemorative medal celebrating Pope Francis’ visit to Kazakhstan for the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions that took place in Nur-Sultan on September 14, QazMonitor reports.

The singer posted photos from the meeting on his Instagram account, thanking the Pope for his blessings and gift. His caption reads: “Thanks to Pope for the award. It’s a huge honor for us.”

Following the event, Dimash announced that he will be performing Kazakhstan’s national anthem before the start of the long-anticipated third and final face-off between Gennadiy Golovkin and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on September 17 in Las Vegas.

According to the announcement, the singer was invited by Golovkin himself.

The appearance of the two cultural representatives of Kazakhstan together in the same arena has elevated the significance of the historical event, which has been speculated to be one of the last big fights before GGG’s rumored retirement.

The Kazakh boxer’s responses to questions concerning the supposed end of his career have remained ambiguous, suggesting he still has plans to continue fighting regardless of the results of the trilogy match.
