Since the beginning of the year, 37 foreign companies have paid value-added-tax (VAT) in Kazakhstan, QazMonitor reports.
Foreign companies and trading platforms that provide services on the Internet or sell goods to individuals through the Internet in Kazakhstan are required to pay VAT, or ‘Google tax’.
This year, the registration requirements for foreign companies have been simplified and in order to register, a foreign company must send a letter to the State revenue committee and undergo the procedure of conditional registration
Thirty seven companies are currently registered, including Apple, Meta, Google, Ebay, and Amazon, with the amount of tax collected estimated to be ₸6.1 billion. The largest tax receipts have been paid by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (₸1.6 billion), Apple Distribution International Limited (₸1.1 billion), and iHerb LLC (₸1.4 billion).
