Traffic volume through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) increased sevenfold compared to last year’s figure, said Deputy Director-General for Logistics of KTZExpress Aibek Kapar, QazMonitor reports citing Kazinform.
According to Kapar, the traffic volume amounted to 845 thousand tons in the first seven months of 2022, which is seven times more than last year’s figure of 311 thousand tons.
The growth can be attributed to the country's active efforts to diversify transit and export opportunities. Earlier, Kazakhstan held talks with Azerbaijan and Georgia to increase trade volume through the TITR which runs to Europe via Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye.
In the report, exports accounted for 494 thousand tons, imports for 179 thousand tons, and transit for 171 thousand tons.
