The Guinness World Record for the most multinational orchestra officially belongs to Kazakhstan after hosting a historical concert program at the Palace of Peace and Harmony on September 6, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the Senate.

The orchestra lineup included representatives from 75 ethnic groups from 51 countries. All of the musicians are laureates of national and international contests.

The musical program titled "The most nationalities in an orchestra" was organized as part of the "Music for Peace" project to emphasize Kazakhstan's ethnic diversity ahead of the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions that will take place on September 14-15 in Nur-Sultan.

Kazakhstan, to date, is home to more than 100 ethnicities and 18 religious denominations.

"It is a significant event not only for our country but also for the whole world, especially in these difficult times. The ideology of the concert fully corresponds to the 7th Congress ideology, which is dialogue, cooperation and joint decision of the most topical issues of the modern world"

Maulen Ashimbayev, chair of the Senate of Kazakhstan

More than 500 applications were sent to the casting of musicians. The youngest member of the orchestra was the 11-year-old flutist Gulyaf, who represented the Mari nationality.

The concert program also featured Abay's "Kozimnin karasy" performed by the ensemble Geo Folk Tour from Georgia, Diana Makina's rendition of a Ukrainian folk song "I love you only", and Michael Jackson's "We Are The World" sung by the children's choir "Tugan Zher".
