President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed issues and plans of ArcelorMittal’s operations in the Temirtau region with the Executive Chairman of the company Lakshmi Mittal, QazMonitor reports citing the presidential press service.
The parties touched on the issues of safety at the production sites, competitive wages for local citizens, fulfilment of social obligations, and modernization of the material and technical base. Mittal assured the Kazakh side that the company would invest $1 billion in the country to modernize its production.
The president stressed that the supply of ArcelorMittal products should meet the demands of the domestic market.
