Alan Kurmangaliyev of Kazakhstan's table tennis team won a gold medal at a major WTT Youth Contender tournament in Helsingborg, Sweden, Qazmonitor reports citing Olympic.kz.
Alan became the champion of the competition among 15-year-old athletes. He defeated Denmark's Janus Bedsted (3:0), India's Balamurugan Rajasekaran (3:1), Germany's Friedrich Kuhn von Burgsdorff (3:1) and Sweden's Peter Alestedt (3:0).
In the semi-finals, the young athlete dominated his opponent from South Korea, Lee Seungsoo (3:0). In the final match, Alan met with another South Korean athlete, Kwon Hyuk, whom he defeated with a score of 3:1.
This win is Alan's 15th international title.
