Five Branches of Foreign Universities to Open in Kazakhstan by 2025

Nur-Sultan will see Michigan State University branch in 2023

Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek briefed about the implementation of the national project "Quality Education 'Educated Nation'", QazMonitor reports with reference to the press service of the department.

One of the aims of the program is to open the branches of five leading foreign universities in Kazakhstan by 2025.

The Minister reminded that a branch of De Montfort Leicester University opened in 2021.

A branch of the University of Arizona is opening in Petropavl. We will launch double diploma educational programs in cooperation with the university. Branches of the following Russian universities are to open: Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after S. Utebaev, which will be opening on the campus of Atyrau University of Oil and Gas, and a branch of the National Research Nuclear University "MEPhI" in Almaty at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In 2023, we are planning to open Michigan State University in Nur-Sultan.

The government adopted resolutions for the branches and allocated the state educational order.

The minister added that 16 Kazakh universities were included in the QS ranking in 2022. Five of them made it to the Top 500 list: Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (top 200), L. K. Gumilev Eurasian National University, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, Satbayev University, and Kazakh National Agrarian University.
