Turkish investor and board member of İskefe holding, Ahmet Levent Serttas, plans to invest 9.8 billion tenge in the construction of a gelatin production plant in Almaty, Qazmonitor reports citing the press service of Almaty City Akimat.
The factory capacity will allow the production of more than 7,000 tons of Halal gelatin annually. It is estimated that the infrastructure will be able to provide more than 100 permanent jobs.
According to the company, at present, Kazakh businesses in the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries import 100% of gelatin for domestic production. The opening of the plant in Almaty will make up for the lack of domestic producer demand for high-quality raw materials. Local cattle hides will be used as raw material for gelatin.
İskefe holding accounts for 6% of the world's beef gelatin supply. "Halavet KZ" LLP, a subsidiary of İskefe, is currently procuring the documentation for the construction of the plant in the industrial zone of Almaty. The plant is expected to open in 2024.
