'First Gold in 5 Years': Results of Chem and Bio Olympiads

Results come in after math, physics and geography

It has been a productive summer month for Kazakhstan's schoolchildren who participated in various subject Olympiads in different cities of the world. Just a few days ago, Qazmonitor reported on medal wins in the subject categories of geography, physics and math. 

Here's a quick recap

We got one gold, one bronze at IGeoO (France), one gold, four silver at IPhO (Switzerland), and three silver, three bronze at IMO (Norway). 

What else have we gotten so far?

Four medals at IBO

Students bagged three silver and one bronze at the International Biology Olympiad.

250 schoolchildren from 64 countries competed at IBO 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia. Yerassyl Temirbekov, Dinmukhamed Omar, and Alikhan Zhumagaliyev won silver, and Bakdaulet Yernazarov bronze.

Last year, the Kazakhstani team claimed one silver and two bronze medals.

Gold at IChO for the first time in five years

The 54th International Chemistry Olympiad took place in Tianjin, China. Kazakhstan won one gold and three silver medals. Madiyar Kasymaly clinched the first gold medal for Kazakhstan at IChO since 2017.

Sanzhar Bissenali, Sanzhar Nurgaliyev and Almira Nurlanova all won silver. The schoolchildren competed with 322 peers from 83 countries of the world.

Kazakhstan managed three silver and one bronze medal at the last year’s Olympiad.
