Asian Karate Federation runner-up defeats world champion in her event

2020 Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Sofya Berultseva was crowned winner of the World Games 2022 in Birmingham, USA, which was held from July 8-9, Qazmonitor reports citing World Karate Federation.

The karate athlete claimed victory with a solid 7-1 against World champion Maria Torres of Spain in Female Kumite +68kg.

Berultseva perviously won the silver medal in her event at the Asian Karate Championships 2021 hosted in Almaty.

The World Karate Federation is the largest international governing body of sport karate with 198 member countries.
