Kazakhstan is experiencing a daily increase in coronavirus cases for the first time since March 2022, Azattyq reports. Earlier, the Ministry of Health stated that over the past day, the virus has been found in 110 people.

Worsening epidemiological situation

Of the 110 new cases, 56 occurred in Almaty and 29 in the capital. Seven cases were registered in Shymkent and six in the Karagandy Region. The rest of the cases have been recorded in several other regions.

The Vice Minister of Health - Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Kazakhstan Aizhan Esmagambetova - said that Nur-Sultan and Almaty are approaching the "yellow" zone in terms of the epidemiological situation, according to Tengrinews.

"It started out gradually with 50 cases per day. Yesterday, 110 cases were registered. If we look at the trend, week to week, there is a 3.6-fold increase. The increase in cases is mainly in the cities of Almaty and Nur-Sultan", said the chief sanitary doctor.

The last time Kazakhstan registered more than 100 cases of infection with the coronavirus in one day was in March of this year, according to local media. Starting from the middle of June, sanitary doctors have noted an increase in the incidents of coronavirus in Kazakhstan.

In the course of the epidemiological study, it was found that 80 percent of those who fall ill are those who have not been vaccinated, or those whose last vaccination or revaccination was more than six months old, Esmagambetova specified.

She also noted 56% of the population vaccinated with the first component. Revaccination also continues - almost 4.8 million people have been vaccinated, which represents 68% of all who are eligible.

“Today, the epidemiological situation is worsening. So far, there are no plans to introduce any additional or new restrictions, because all regions still remain in the "green" zone. But Nur-Sultan and Almaty are approaching the "yellow" zone, according to the epidemiological situation assessment matrix."

Yerzhan Baitanaev, an official representative of the Ministry of Health's Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control, told Khabar 24 TV channel that alarm bells will need to be set off if more than 100 cases of infection with COVID-19 are detected in a day in any region of the country. This will mean a return to the "red" zone with strict COVID restrictions.

A total of 1,306,471 cases of COVID-19 infection had been confirmed in Kazakhstan as of June 29.
