Major international logistics company DHL has suspended its operations in Russia and countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) due to the war in Ukraine.
In July 2021, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development signed a memorandum of cooperation with DHL to develop the transport and logistics infrastructure of the capital's airport cargo terminal. In other words, DHL rented the terminal.
This allowed for a 27% increase in cargo turnover. And even in spite of the January events and military action in Ukraine, this flow has not decreased in 2022.
"Due to the current situation in Ukraine in March 2022, DHL has suspended its operations in the Russian Federation and the EEU countries. DHL Logistics (Kazakhstan) LLP has announced the termination of the contract with Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport JSC from 27 August 2022", the reply to Orda.kz's official request reads.
In this regard, the IIRC is organizing a competition to select a new cargo and postal service operator, in which Kazakh companies will also be able to participate.
