Nur-Sultan-based hockey team Barys officially appointed Belarusian specialist Andrei Skabelka as their new head coach. The contract with Skabelka is for two seasons, until April 30, 2024.

"The coach's last job was with Lokomotiv of Yaroslavl. Andrey Vladimirovich is well known to Kazakh fans. In the 2018/19 season, Barys under Skabelka showed the best result in the history of regular championships in terms of points scored.

Under his leadership, Barys won the Chernyshev division twice and reached the semifinals of the Eastern Conference of the Gagarin Cup twice. Barys expects the specialist's return to Kazakhstan to be no less productive. The club will focus on young Kazakhstani players next season.

In the near future Skabelka together with the management of the club will work on the formation of his coaching staff, as well as staffing the Barys for the coming season," reads the press release.
