On June 7, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi of China who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit, Akorda reports.

During the conversation, they discussed the current state and development prospects of the Kazakh-Chinese long-term comprehensive strategic partnership, as well as cooperation between international and regional organizations.

President Tokayev praised the level of strategic partnership achieved over 30 years and emphasized continued interest in deepening bilateral comprehensive cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.

He also expressed confidence that the reciprocal state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Kazakhstan scheduled for autumn 2022 will give a new powerful impetus to the development of Kazakh-Chinese relations.

“This year marks a very important and significant event - the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Kazakh-Chinese diplomatic relations, as well as the anniversary of the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. I hope that the upcoming high-level talks will open a bright new page in the annals of our strategic partnership,” the President noted.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China reports that the two sides exchanged views on Central Asia and Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building in Asia (CICA) cooperation. Wang Yi appreciated the important role played by the Kazakh side in preparing for the third foreign ministers' meeting of "China + Five Central Asian Countries", and expressed willingness to jointly build an efficient platform for regional cooperation and enhance solidarity between China and its Central Asian neighbors.

The Chinese MFA noted that both sides are deeply concerned about the severe negative spillovers from the Ukraine crisis. Wang Yi stressed that China plays a constructive role in promoting peace talks. He warned that, under the current situation, both parties must be wary of attempts by extraterritorial forces to involve countries in the region in major power conflicts and coerce countries to "choose sides".
