Artists from Kazakhstan participated in the fourth Eurasian Creative Guild (ECG) Film Festival held on May 19-25 in the center of London, Times of Central Asia reports. The festival presented 25 works from 11 different countries.
Awards and a new film festival in Kazakhstan
For four years, the international jury of the festival has been selecting the winners from more than 500 entries from 30 countries. Among the international jury were two Kazakh screenwriters and film directors Mansur and Maksud Sarsembaevs. Both were prizewinners of the third ECG Film Festival in the nomination "Best Screenplay".
At the festival's opening, a new international film festival was announced - Burabay International Short Film Festival, which will be held in June 2023.
On the second final day on May 21, some of the finalists' works were presented, including the animated film “Lullaby” created by Dilshat Rakhmatullin, the director and founder of the animation studio "Dala Animation" in Kazakhstan, and the short film “Coincidence” by Egor Lymarev, director and screenwriter from Almaty.
According to the results of the audience voting and the evaluations of the jury members, Natalia Makhno won the “Best Eurasian screenplay” for her story “Bifurcation point”. Rakhmatullin’s “Lullaby” got the “Audience Choice Award”.
