UK’s new visa scheme will allow the world’s leading school graduates to apply for an employment visa depending on their qualifications, The Guardian reports

Candidates with a master’s or a bachelor’s degree on hand will receive a two-year employment visa, while those with a PhD will be eligible for a three-year visa. “We want the businesses of tomorrow to be built here today, which is why I call on students to take advantage of this incredible opportunity to forge their careers here,” shares Chancellor Rishi Sunak. The novelty is thus believed to attract prospective students from overseas.

It is noted that the scheme is solely aimed at those who graduated from a non-UK university within the last five years. Additionally, the visa holders will be able to switch to other long-term employment visas if they meet the set requirements, such as passing the criminality check and displaying a sufficient level of English.

A student is eligible if their university has made an appearance in either Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings, or the global school ranking dated by the year of the graduation.
