On May 19, Kazakh boxer Alua Balkibekova (48kg) faced off against Turkish Ayşe Çağirir in the final match of the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship in Istanbul and won the silver medal.
On the previous day, four of Kazakhstan’s boxers - Zhaina Shekerbekova, Dina Zholaman, Karina Ibragimova and Valentina Khalzova - earned a bronze each.
