Afghanistan, Ukraine and Poland Are Top Recipients of Kazakhstan's Aid

The cost of the humanitarian package was compared with 2021

According to finprom.kz, Kazakhstan spent more on humanitarian aid from January to March 2022 than in the entirety of 2021. The largest portions of the aid were spent on medicine ($4.4 million) and provisions ($280,800).

Humanitarian aid

145,000 tons of aid worth $3.5 million were sent to war-torn Ukraine and neighboring Poland and Hungary, which accepted more than 3.8 million Ukrainian refugees.

Afghanistan remains the main and regular recipient of Kazakhstan’s humanitarian aid. In the first quarter of 2022, Afghanistan received assistance worth $5.7 million. Among the countries to which Kazakhstan has sent humanitarian assistance this year, the permanent recipient is also Tajikistan ($130,100 for the first quarter of 2022).

In turn, Kazakhstan received humanitarian aid worth $2.2 million over the same period - mainly from Italy, China and Germany.

In turn, 70,700 tons of humanitarian aid worth $3.1 million was sent to Poland. The main volume came from medicines: 25,200 tons for $1.5 million. In addition, 8,600 tons of foodstuffs were worth $23,000, and 4,700 tons of clothes and shoes were worth $22,900. In addition, 32,200 tons of other goods are valued at $1.5 million.
