The new administrative-territorial division of the Ulytau region was discussed at the XII extraordinary session of the Karaganda Regional Maslikhat.
The cities of Zhezkazgan, Karazhal, Satpayev, Zhanaarkinsk, and Ulytau districts were proposed to be included in the Ulytau region. The cities of Karaganda oblast will remain in Karaganda, Balkhash, Saran, Temirtau, Shakhtinsk and Priozersk, as well as seven districts: Abay, Aktogay, Bukhar-Zhyrau, Karkarala, Nura, Osakar and Shet.
"The region has developed an algorithm for solving administrative-territorial issues to create the Ulytau region. On April 12-13 city and district sessions of maslikhats were held in Zhezkazgan, Karazhal, Satpayev, Zhanaarka, and Ulytau districts on the issue of inclusion of the above regions into the constituent Ulytau region. As a result of the sessions, relevant joint acts were received."
According to him, the expediency of dividing the region received a positive conclusion from scientists. Scientific expertise was made in Karaganda State University named after Buketov. There have been appropriate economic calculations of the ongoing reforms. Proposals to change the boundaries of the Karaganda region will be submitted to the government. Drafts of a schematic map have been developed.
"The decision is verified. The division of the region has been considered from all sides. The opinions of the residents have been taken into account," said Zhenis Kasymbek, Akim of Karaganda Region.
