On June 16th, the courts of Gorky Tennis Park came alive with the TS Cup 4, part of the 2024 Tennis League TS (TLTS) rated doubles tournament series.
Abylay Ongarbayev, TLTS General Manager and Tournament Director, along with Artem Ascheulov, Chief Referee, kicked off the event with welcoming speeches. Following tradition, the anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan resonated through the courts, marking the official start of the competition.
The tournament attracted a strong showing, with 21 pairs vying for the title. 14 pairs competed in the main tournament, while 7 pairs battled it out in the qualifiers held earlier that morning. This qualifying system mirrors the professional international system used by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
Notably, 3 new League members participated in the qualifiers, adding a fresh element to the competition. The tournament utilized 8 courts at Gorky Tennis Park, ensuring a day filled with exciting matches and top-notch tennis.
The Tennis League TS (TLTS) is a professional organizer of amateur tennis tournaments in Kazakhstan, established under the Tennis League TS Private Foundation by a renowned philanthropist and amateur tennis player Serik Tolbassy.
The League aims to foster amateur tennis in Kazakhstan and create optimal conditions for enhancing players' doubles skills through tournaments for amateur players. The TLTS follows high professional standards and invites new members to sign up via the registration form on the league’s website.
The courts of Gorky Tennis Park sizzled with intensity during the recent TS Cup 4. Each game was a thrilling battle, and records were shattered once again. Players displayed an incredibly high skill level, with a record number of lobs performed throughout the tournament.
What is a lob?: This challenging shot involves hitting the ball in a high arc used for offense and defense. On the other hand, passing shots are attacking maneuvers aimed at an unoccupied corner, making it impossible for the opponent to reach.
