The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan released details of the meeting between the Kazakh Ambassador to the United States, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, and U.S. President Joseph Biden.

Mutual benefits

On April 4, 2022, at a protocol event at the White House, Ambassador Yerzhan Ashikbayev held a brief conversation with President Biden, during which he conveyed the warm wishes on behalf of Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, emphasizing Kazakhstan's commitment to promoting an enhanced strategic partnership with the United States.

The American leader, in turn, welcomed the continuation of the two countries' constructive partnership on topical issues of the bilateral and regional agenda.

The Kazakhstani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan, with the assistance of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, also conducted regular Kazakhstani-American online consultations on sanctions issues for Kazakhstani businessmen and representatives of the banking sector and foreign companies that have branches in Kazakhstan.

The goal of the event was to minimize the unintended impact of U.S. sanctions on Kazakhstani businesses and second-tier banks, as well as the negative impact on foreign trade.

U.S. diplomats provided detailed explanations of the U.S. sanctions and the specifics of doing business and conducting transactions with partners under the sanctions regime.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation to mitigate their impact on the Kazakhstani economy.
