Kazakhstan Opens Applications for Students from the Kyrgyz Republic

Kazakh universities are ready to provide 50 grants to Kyrgyz students in bachelor's, master's, and continuing medical education programs

Kazakhstan has allocated 50 quotas in its local higher educational institutions for students from the Kyrgyz Republic for the upcoming academic year. These quotas apply to bachelor's, master's, and continuing medical education programs, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.

What happened: On April 30, the Kyrgyz side announced that Kazakhstan had designated 50 quotas for the upcoming academic year, distributed as follows – 25 for bachelor's programs, 20 for master’s programs, and 5 for continuing medical education.

  • To apply for these quotas, candidates must complete their registration and upload all necessary documents online. The application process must be finalized by 11:59 p.m. on May 23, 2024.

  • Successfully registered candidates will be eligible to participate in the selection process, overseen by the Kyrgyz party.

The Ministry also provided a list of required documents for the application:

  • Declaration for studying in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan with signature and photo

  • An up-to-date resume in Kyrgyz and Russian languages

  • Copy of a foreign travel passport

  • Copy of an ID card

  • Notarized copy of the document on the previous level of education (certificate); in case the candidate is still studying, a report card or transcript must be submitted with the average grade point average

  • Medical certificate for a person going to study abroad, issued by an authorized health authority of the Kyrgyz Republic

  • Medical certificate on the absence of human immunodeficiency virus and AIDS disease, issued by the authorized health authority of the Kyrgyz Republic

  • Motivational essay in Kazakh, Russian, or English

  • Letter of recommendation in Kazakh, Russian, or English signed by referral source

  • Certificate of no criminal record

  • Certificate of family composition

The Kazakh side also established the following requirements for applicants:

  • For bachelor’s programs, the application will consider an average grade of at least B on the certificate or certificate of basic secondary education. Additionally, participants currently studying must have an average grade of at least 4 on a five-point scale.

  • For master’s and medical residency, the application will consider an average grade of at least 3.3 (out of 4.0) GPA or its equivalent.
