Korean Construction Specialists to Assist in Almaty Seismic Audit

KazRICA and KICT signed a memorandum to exchange construction expertise

South Korean specialists will participate in the upcoming Almaty building audit focusing on the city's overall seismic resilience, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Industry and Construction.

What happened: On May 2, the Kazakh Research Institute of Construction and Architecture (KazRICA) and the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation.

  • The document aims to promote the exchange of construction experiences between the two countries, including areas such as constructing earthquake-resistant buildings and structures, energy-efficient buildings, technical inspections, and structure maintenance, among others.

  • In the initial phase of the MoU's implementation, specialists from KICT will take part in the upcoming technical survey of buildings and structures in Almaty, which will include city-wide building certification.

KICT: Established in 1983, the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology stands as South Korea's sole state research institute dedicated to construction. Their work encompasses the development of advanced technologies for infrastructure facilities, responsive strategies for natural disasters, eco-friendly land development, convergence technologies in construction, and the creation of high-performance construction materials.
