Kazakhstan's U-16 girls fell short of their target of qualifying for the World Group stage in the Junior Billie Jean King Cup, but Yaroslava Shvedova, the captain of the team, keeps a positive mindset.
The Kazakhstani team defeated Hong Kong 2-0 in the match for fifth place in the World Junior Championship qualification in New Delhi. Our team was represented by Aya Nupbai, Asylzhan Arystanbekova, and Karina Dzhumazhanova.
Team captain Yaroslava Shvedova summed up the results:
"Overall, we performed well. In the quarter finals, we were unlucky - we got the Australian team, which won the qualification. In that game, our girls coped well with the weather conditions, but not with their emotions. We will continue to work and improve on our performance. I want to thank all the staff at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in India. They came to all the matches with their families and actively supported us. Now they will support our boys at the Juniors Davis Cup."
