The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, may choose Kazakhstan as a negotiation platform for peace talks between the countries. Azerbaijan has agreed, with the Armenian Foreign Ministry considering the proposal, QazMonitor reports citing Armenpress.
Kazakhstan’s proposal: On April 15, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited Yerevan and proposed Kazakhstan as a platform for peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan during his meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that Baku received a proposal from Kazakhstan to host a meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, and agreed to it.
Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ani Badalyan stated that authorities are currently considering Kazakhstan's proposal.
As noted earlier, Armenia considers and supports mediation efforts or negotiation platforms truly aimed at achieving lasting peace in the South Caucasus, supporting fundamental principles and mutually agreed documents, including recognition of each other's territorial integrity by Armenia and Azerbaijan, and demarcation based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. We will inform you of the possible date of the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, proposed by the Kazakh side, as soon as an agreement is reached.
