Kazakhstan and Russia signed an agreement on the construction of thermal power plants in three Kazakh cities, Kokshetau, Oskemen, and Semey, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Energy.

What happened: On April 17, Almassadam Satkaliyev and Nikolay Shulginov, the Ministers of Energy of Kazakhstan and Russia, signed an agreement on the construction of thermal power plants between the energy holding Samruk-Energo (Kazakhstan) and the engineering company Inter RAO – Export (Russia).

The implementation of three new TPPs in three regional centers, Semey, Kokshetau, and Oskemen, given the vast reserves of coal for power stations, will give impetus to their further development.

stressed Satkaliyev.

The authorized Kazakh organization, represented by Samruk-Energy, has already developed a roadmap for implementing the first plant this year.
