President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev canceled the Astana International Forum scheduled for June 13-14 this year. The Head of State announced the decision in his X account (formerly Twitter), QazMonitor reports.
President Tokayev named the financial matter the main reason for the decision amidst the devastating flooding in the Aktobe, Kostanay, Akmola, Atyrau and North Kazakhstan regions.
“Due to the severe flooding in Kazakhstan and the need to allocate financial resources for the relief efforts and aid for affected citizens, I have made the decision to cancel the Astana International Forum that was scheduled for June 13-14 this year,” said President.
AIF 2025: Tokayev expressed his hopes that the invited participants “will treat the decision with understanding.” The Astana International Forum will resume its activities in 2025.
