South Korea to Provide 5 Grants to Kazakh Master’s Students

The countries also signed a memorandum enabling Kazakh graduates to teach Russian in Gyeonggi-do Province

During his working trip to South Korea, Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek, held a meeting with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon. The parties signed a Memorandum aimed at granting scholarships to Kazakhstani students, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the Ministry.

About the grants: Starting in 2024, Seoul City Hall will provide 5 educational grants for Kazakhstani citizens to pursue Master's programs in technical and engineering fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, biology, and fintech/blockchain. Kazakh students will have the opportunity to study at four leading universities in South Korea - Sungkyunkwan University, Kyung Hee University, Hanyang University, and the University of Seoul.

Teacher training initiative: Minister Nurbek also met with the head of the Office of Education of Gyeonggi-do Province, Mr. Yim Tae-hee. During the meeting, a memorandum was signed between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Office of Education of Gyeonggi-do Province. This memorandum aims to facilitate the sending of Kazakh graduates from pedagogical universities to South Korea to teach Russian language in the province's schools.
