On March 28, the Digitalization Center of the Organization of Turkic States held the inaugural conference in the metaverse. This event aimed to spotlight the advancements and potential development of the Turkic Metaverse concept, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of Astana Hub.
About the initiative: "The objective of the Turkic Metaverse initiative is to construct a virtual environment that mirrors the culture, history, and architecture of Turkic-speaking nations. This endeavor facilitates users in engaging with the region's rich heritage, fostering a stronger sense of community among the people of Turkic states," remarked Tanat Uskembayev, Managing Director of Astana Hub.
Participants: Representatives from the Organization of Turkic States and technoparks across participating countries, such as Astana Hub (Kazakhstan), Bilkent Cyberpark (Turkey), High Technology Park (Kyrgyzstan), and Sabah Hub (Azerbaijan) took part in the conference. The event featured a panel session where speakers deliberated on the potential of the Turkic Metaverse project and the opportunities it presents for utilizing the metaverse as a platform for dialogue, cooperation, and knowledge exchange.
Honorable mention: Attendees explored innovative solutions showcased by startups and technoparks, engaging directly with their representatives. A particular highlight was the yurt digitally crafted by Almaty-based 3D artist Farhad Nigmatullin, symbolizing the metaverse's potential to preserve and promote cultural heritage.
How to try it out: The Turkic Metaverse project is hosted on the Vargates platform, an interactive 3D universe offering users a distinctive communication and learning experience.
"Our objective is to establish a space based on open standards where individuals can freely interact and share knowledge within an interactive 3D environment," emphasized Alexandr Mazurenko, Director of DreamLight.

The big picture: In November 2022, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to establish the Center of Digitalization of the Organization of Turkic States during the OTS Summit in Samarkand. The Center was established at Astana Hub Technological Park to develop digital solutions for trade, transport, water resources management, IT security and other important sectors.
