Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aibek Smadiyarov, has advised Kazakh citizens in Russia to carry identification documents in case of inspections by the country’s law-enforcement agencies, QazMonitor reports citing Azattyq Ryhy.

What happened: During the press briefing in Astana on April 1, Aibek Smadiyarov noted that Kazakh nationals in Russia should carry with them identification documents in the wake of the recent Crocus City Hall terror attack in Krasnogorsk.

In any state where such a sinister crime, like a large-scale terrorist attack, occurs, it is natural for security measures to be automatically implemented. Local authorities, including law enforcement agencies, take all necessary steps in response. Consequently, it is not uncommon to hear news of individuals being detained and subjected to checks. Therefore, our citizens should ensure they have the necessary documents and the clear purpose of their stay in the country.

said Smadiyarov.

Currently, the Kazakh Embassy in Moscow has not received any information whether there were any Kazakh nationals detained.

Context: On March 22, a terror attack occurred at the Crocus City Hall music venue in the city of Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, resulting in significant casualties among attendees of the Picnic rock band’s concert.
