On March 11, Vice-Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Iran Sharkhan made a working visit to the United Kingdom, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the Ministry.
Agenda: The purpose of the trip was to participate in the Mineral Processing and Circular Economy business forum and learn about the UK's potential in critical raw materials. The forum is taking place in London from March 11 through 15.
Partnership: As part of the event, Kazakhstan and the UK signed a Roadmap for a strategic partnership in the field of critical minerals. The signed Roadmap opened a new chapter of Kazakh-British relations on sustainable minerals.
During the business forum, a meeting was held between the Vice-Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Iran Sharkhan, and the Minister of Industry and Economic Security of Great Britain, Nusrat Ghani.
Iran Sharkhan outlined the main basic principles of the Republic of Kazakhstan such as “raw materials in exchange for technology and entry into the global value chain.” He also invited British companies to take part in investment projects in Kazakhstan.
Nusrat Ghani is confident in the further progress within the Roadmap framework which is an important landmark event in transferring the current interaction in the field of Climate-Smart Mining (CSM) between London and Astana to a practical level.
B2B meetings: The event also included B2B meetings, where entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan and the UK discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of critical raw materials and related projects.
The G2B section of the forum included meetings with British mining and metallurgical companies and enterprises — TechMet, Maritime House, Ionic Rare Earths, Mkango Resources, Haig Barrett Partners, and FSEE.
